Solar Heat Exchange Manufacturing partners with select solar dealers and businesses to assist in the purchase and installation of solar hot water systems using the Department of Agriculture's REAP program. REAP is an acronym for Rural Energy for America Program. This annual grant will pay 25% of system cost for eligible small businesses in communities under 50,000 in population. The 25% REAP grant assistance can be added to other incentives!
How Does The Assistance Program Work?
If your business uses 250 gallons (or more) of daytime hot water and is located in a community of under 50,000 population, then you may qualify for a new solar hot water system using both REAP grants, Federal tax credits plua state and local utility rebates. The combination of incentives can be quite dramatic in terms of reducing capital costs.
The USDA Renewable Energy for America Program (REAP) grant, in combination with Federal, state and local utility rebates can enable you to realize the value of multiple programs and long-term benefits of free hot water. Please read more about the REAP program by following the above link.
As with all incentive programs, there is good news and bad news. The good news is the grant funds are available each spring, on a first come/first serve and competitive basis. The bad news is this program is limited in its availability, competitive, and involves paperwork. SHEM has the necessary templates to support REAP grant applications.
