Copper Roof Jack

For most applications, either copper flashing or less expensive galvanized roof jack is appropriate for roof penetrations. Most home improvement stores carry roof jacks. SHEM offers a copper roof jack set designed for 3/4" piping. The copper roof jacks have a unique stem for the T1 sensor wire. For galvanized roof jacks, the wire is generally mounted OUTSIDE the insulation.

Roof penetrations represent one of the most demanding aspects of a thermal installation. As the photo below and left shows, the piping and the penetration must exactly line up. The installer's goal should be less than 1/16" off center. If the penetration is even slightly off, insulating and running the sensor wire will become problematic! Silver wrap still missing?
